My name is Father Arturo Dalupang.
I like to be called Father Art. I’m 65 years old. I was born on April 22, 1951 in the Philippines. My parents are still with us at the ages of 85 and 94. I have
2 brothers and 3 sisters. We are a very close family.
I received my nursing degree in the Philippines. I moved to the states in 1975 and was hired as a nurse at the Spartanburg hospital. I was a nurse for 26 years before quitting and going to the seminary in Boston.
I was ordained a priest in 1995 in the Diocese of Charleston. My first assignment was at St. Mary Help of Christians Church in Aiken. I was there for 6 months before moving on to Lake City, SC, Johnsonville, SC, Kingstree, SC, and North Charleston, SC; then to St. Anthony in Florence, where I stayed for 11 years before going to Holy Family in Hilton Head, SC. I was there for 3 1/2 years. In 2010, I became a United States Citizen.
I’ve been a priest for 21 years and love visiting the sick, celebrating Mass at the nursing homes and visiting with our members there, I also love home visits with parishioners who cannot make it to church. I love to be “available” wherever I’m needed. I also love to travel. I especially love to travel home to the Philippines to visit family and friends there.
Why did I become a priest? To serve the Christian community of South Carolina.
